17/04/2019

On April 16, 2019, the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of India hosted the first professional Georgian wine tasting event in the Indian market at the prestigious TAJ PALACE Hotel in New Delhi. The initiative aimed to introduce Indian importers, hoteliers, and hospitality professionals to Georgia’s rich heritage as the cradle of wine and its unique winemaking traditions.

The event featured a wide range of Georgian wines, including both classical styles and traditional qvevri wines. Attendees were given the opportunity to explore Georgia’s ancient winemaking methods, indigenous grape varieties, and over 8,000 years of viticultural history.

In addition to leading Georgian wine companies, several members of the Women in Wine Industry (WIWI) association were represented, including Madamwine, Ketevaini, Marani Sachino, Demi’s Marani, and Tinatini. These wines attracted particular interest from guests and were praised for their quality and authenticity.

The event was a resounding success, earning enthusiastic feedback from Indian wine experts. It marked a significant milestone in the effort to position Georgian wine in new international markets and to spotlight the contributions of Georgian women winemakers on the global stage.
