About Association

In Georgia, the connection between women and wine runs deep—perhaps more so than anywhere else in the world.

As early as the 19th century, Georgian women played a prominent role in the production of alcoholic beverages. Pioneers such as Barbara Imerlishvili, Salome Dadiani, and Ekaterine Forakishvili stand as powerful examples of this legacy.

Building on these historical roots, the Women in Wine Industry Association was established in 2020 to unite like-minded women and strengthen their presence in winemaking. The Association is dedicated to expanding knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and fostering both professional and entrepreneurial growth.

Today, WIWI brings together nearly 50 members—including winemakers, viticulturists, entrepreneurs, wine bloggers, marketers, and other professionals committed to shaping the future of Georgian wine.

WIWI is also an active member of the EU–Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) and collaborates with both local institutions and international networks of women in wine.
